Enter
the Punisher
Episode #20 - Enter the Punisher As more ESU students are attacked and stricken with the strange 'plasma disorder,' Spider-Man is blamed once again, although it's Morbius feeding on his victims' hemoglobin. Enter Frank Castle, The Punisher, a vigilante who takes out after 'the vampire' Spider-Man. Meanwhile, the Wall-Crawler tracks Morbius, The Living Vampire, to stop his bloody rampage, but this makes Spidey an easy target for The Punisher. Review: The Punisher proved a difficult character to translate. His very nature is a character that kills criminals, which the writers were not allowed to do. His portrayal made a lot of fan boys whine, but overall, they worked around it well. Despite a silly design (a turquoise green costume), he was pretty cool, mainly because of a picture perfect voice. His main purpose here was to capture Spider-Man, who had been falsely accused of kidnapping Morbius. There where a lot of different angles in this episode, a 6 armed Spider-Man trying to help Morbius, Morbius trying to find a cure for his condition, Mariah Crawford trying to help Spider-Man and The Punisher trying to kill Spider-Man. Despite trying to cram all this into 22 minutes, the episode was a fine one. Spider-Man’s worst nightmare had come true because he was too impatient to allow Dr. Crawford to finish her serum. The highlight was undoubtedly the ending, with a wounded Spider-Man crawling along the floor, trying to keep out of The Punisher sight. Again, as an 8-year-old boy who was avoided any spoilers, the sight of 2 massive claws ripping through Spider-Man’s gloves is something I doubt I’ll ever forget. Even as a kid, I was a massive Spider-Man fan boy. Screenshots:
