"Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes" To Premiere On Nicktoons Network In Fall 2009

July 07, 2009 by James Harvey

Marvel Animation Age has confirmed that the cult Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes animated series will debut on Nicktoons Network this fall.

Confirmed for a slated October 2009 premiere on Nicktoons Network, Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes will be airing Friday nights alongside Iron Man: Armored Adventures and Wolverine and The X-Men, two other Marvel-based animated series that air on the cable network. Nicktoons Network is slated to air all 26 episodes or the animated series, including a collection of never-before-broadcast episodes. Please note schedule details are subject to change.

Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes originally premiered and aired on Cartoon Network from 2006 - 2007, often airing erratically with the network skipping over episodes. The show then moved to the Cartoon Network spin-off channel Boomerang in 2008, re-airing only a small selection of episodes before being removed from the network earlier this year. All 26 episodes of the series were made available with the DVD release of Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes: The Complete First Season by Fox Home Entertainment last year.

The official synopsis for the Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes animated series is available below.

When an experimental space voyage goes awry, four people are changed by cosmic rays. Scientist Reed Richards gains the ability to stretch his body into various contortions, and takes the name Mr. Fantastic. His wife, Sue Richards, receives the power to turn invisible and create force fields, calling herself the Invisible Woman. Her younger brother, Johnny Storm, gains the ability to control fire, becoming the Human Torch. And pilot Ben Grimm is turned into a super-strong rock creature calling himself The Thing. Together they become the Fantastic Four and use their unique powers to help the world battle multiple threats, and to foil the evil plans of their equally powerful enemy, Doctor Doom.
