In an attempt to heal his injured body and save himself from his kidnappers millionaire industrialist Tony Stark invented an invincible suit of armour. Giving him flight capability, repulsor rays and a newfound confidence, Tony Stark became The Invincible Iron Man.

Beginning in 1994 along with The Fantastic Four as part of The Marvel Action Hour, the first season of Iron Man features the Golden Avenger and his friends War Machine, Spider-Woman, Century, Hawkeye and The Scarlet Witch fighting The Mandarin and his evil forces and stopping them from taking over the earth. The majority of the first season features childish plots, terrible scripts and non-existent characterisation.

When the second season began in fall 1995, Marvel changed production houses and the show was given a sleek update, with new voices, new designs and new direction. The show featured Iron Man as lone wolf, donning the armour to heal his broken body and battle the likes of Justin Hammer to protect his company.

Iron Man went on to become one of Marvel’s best, most underrated shows before it's erratic and inconsistent syndication scheduling led to low ratings, and eventual cancellation.
